BAR Model Terms & Conditions
Insurance Version – October 2019
Introduction
These conditions explain the rights, obligations, and responsibilities of all parties to this Agreement. Where “You” means the Customer and “We” means the Remover.
In Clauses 8–11 We limit or exclude Our liability. We recommend You arrange insurance. Insurance can be arranged separately upon request.
1. Our Quotation
1.1 Our quotation does not include insurance, customs duties, port charges, or taxes unless stated.
1.2 Our quotation is valid for 28 days. Additional charges may apply if:
1.2.1 Work does not commence within 28 days
1.2.2 Redelivery from store exceeds 6 months
1.2.3 Costs change (fuel, tax, etc.)
1.2.4 Work is outside normal hours or weekends
1.2.5 Access is above first floor
1.2.6 Access to stored goods is requested
1.2.7 Additional goods/services are required
1.2.8 Access or property layout causes difficulty
1.2.9 Parking or related charges apply
1.2.10 Delays outside our control occur
1.2.11 Liability limit is increased by agreement
1.2.12 Operational/legal charges apply (e.g. LEZ)
1.3 You agree to pay reasonable additional charges.
2. Work Not Included
2.1 Unless agreed, we do not:
2.1.1 Dismantle furniture
2.1.2 Handle appliances or fittings
2.1.3 Remove flooring
2.1.4 Access unsafe lofts
2.1.5 Move restricted goods
2.1.6 Handle garden structures
2.2 Qualified professionals should be used where required.
3. Your Responsibility
3.1.1 Arrange insurance
3.1.2 Provide permits/documents
3.1.3 Pay parking charges
3.1.4 Be present during move
3.1.5 Sign documents
3.1.6 Ensure correct items moved
3.1.7 Protect unattended goods
3.1.8 Prepare appliances
3.1.9 Empty and clean fridges/freezers
3.1.10 Ensure appliances are dry
3.1.11 Provide contact details
3.1.12 Handle restricted goods separately
3.2 We are not liable if these responsibilities are not met.
4. Prohibited Goods
We will not transport:
4.1.1 Hazardous items
4.1.2 Valuables (cash, jewellery, documents)
4.1.3 Infestation-risk goods
4.1.4 Unsanitary goods
4.1.5 Perishables
4.1.6 Animals or plants
4.1.7 Restricted/import-controlled goods
4.1.8 Illegal or prohibited items
5. Ownership
You confirm ownership or authority over goods and accept liability if this is incorrect.
6. Cancellation Charges
10+ days: No charge
5–10 days: up to 30%
<5 days: up to 60%
<24 hours: up to 75%
Same day: up to 100%
7. Payment
Payment is required in full before work begins. Late payments may incur interest.
8. Liability
Liability is limited to £40 per item unless agreed otherwise.
9. Property Damage
We will repair damage caused by negligence. Damage must be reported promptly.
10. Exclusions
We are not liable for wear and tear, environmental damage, poor packing, or delays beyond control.
11. Claims
Claims must be made at delivery or within 7 days in writing.
12. Delays
We are not responsible for delays outside our control.
13. Lien
We may retain goods until all charges are paid.
14. Disputes
Disputes may be referred to ADR via BAR.
15–23 Additional Terms
Includes subcontracting, legal jurisdiction, storage, and disposal of goods if unpaid.
