Do I need to be in the US when my goods arrive?
Yes. US customs requires you to be present in the country to complete clearance procedures. We’ll coordinate timing so your shipment arrives after you do.
How does the 12-month ownership rule work?
To qualify for duty-free import, your household goods must have been owned and used for at least 12 months before shipping. Items purchased specifically for the move may attract duties.
Can I ship my car to the USA?
You can, but the vehicle must meet US emission standards and you’ll pay import duties. Modifications required for compliance must be completed before the car leaves the UK. We can advise on whether it’s practical for your specific vehicle.
What's the difference between East and West Coast shipping?
East Coast ports (New York, Baltimore, Charleston) have shorter transit times because they’re the first ports of call from the UK. West Coast destinations (Los Angeles, Seattle) take 2-3 weeks longer and typically cost more due to the additional internal US transit.
