Awards for Service

Here at Britannia Sandersteads we are dedicated to providing exceptional levels of customer service and believe that, in order to achieve this, we must recruit and retain exceptional people. As part of this commitment, we endeavour to create a friendly, family atmosphere amongst our team and are proud of the incredibly high standards our staff all strive to achieve.

We believe regularly rewarding our team and acknowledging the huge effort they all put in every single day is one of the best ways to maintain this ethos. As such, our service awards are a fantastic way of showing our appreciation and, last month, we gave away two more to the extremely deserving John Inkpen and Martin Holyoake!

Martin Holyoake

Martin’s career within the removals industry began years ago when, as a young man, he started working in London and eventually came to join us at Britannia Sandersteads in 1998 – and has been here ever since!

With almost two decades of service here at Britannia Sandersteads, Martin is an incredibly valued member of the team and his dedication to the job (and getting it done well) is apparent each day. Based with his family in Croydon, Martin has a 10 mile journey to work every single morning on public transport – and he is still always one of the first employees through the door each morning!

John Inkpen

John began life as member of the British Army, joining in 1977 and leaving in 1989 after 12 years of service. During his time with the Army he carried out tours across the world, including Northern Island, Gibraltar, Belize, the Falkland’s and Greenham Common. John married Lyn Almandras in 1981 and, from that point on, found himself in the world of removals whenever he visited home.

In those days, Britannia Sandersteads was operating as Sandersteads Removals and was run by William Almandras; so when John joined the family, he also became a part of the family business. When John left the Army, he started working full-time for Britannia Sandersteads, which was by now being run by William’s wife, Brenda, and John’s new brother-in-laws Steve and Stuart Almandras.

John first began his career with us out on the road as a porter and progressed to the installation of office furniture, export packing and Luton van driving, as well as executing a range of domestic removals services. He was then offered the chance to embark on an estimators’ course and, since then, has gone on to become one of Britannia Sanderstead’s estimators, moving into the office full-time.

John is an incredibly valued member of the team and, with nearly 25 years of service under his belt, has contributed to the significant development and success of the company.

We would like to say a huge congratulations to both Martin and John on their service awards and a massive thank you for all their hard work over the years!
